Federal brackets put a 6‑truck carrier in the same tier as a 20‑truck fleet. Our processing fee is calculated per vehicle, so a smaller fleet in the same bracket pays less.

A federal annual registration for every company that operates in interstate commerce.
The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) applies to motor carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies that operate across state lines. The fee is set by fleet size and funds state motor‑carrier safety and enforcement programs.
Penalties are set and enforced by each state — roadside citations and fines, and in a number of states a hold on your vehicle registration renewal until the UCR fee is paid. Enforcement for the 2027 registration year begins January 1, 2027.
UCR applies to interstate trucks and to interstate cargo — freight that crosses state lines at any point in its journey. That means some intrastate carriers must file too: if you haul goods that started or will end in another state, even on an in‑state leg, UCR applies. Not sure? Call 240-544-0882 and we'll check for you.

The federal UCR fee is set by law in fixed fleet‑size brackets and steps up at 3, 6, 21, 101 and 1,001 vehicles. Our processing fee scales with your fleet size instead of using flat brackets — so smaller carriers pay less for the same service. The total shown is everything you pay.
